The Physician and His Territory by Dr. Otto Ringle
$20.00
Dr. Ringle wrote, “The book gave a little history of the practice of medicine in the Leech Lake area, beginning with the Ojibwe Shaman, followed by Dr. Douglas Houghton, who vaccinated about 400 Ojibwe for smallpox in 1832, when he accompanied Henry Schoolcraft in his second search for the source of the Mississippi River. The story continues with Doc Bain in Lothrop and contains a copy of an advertisement of Doc Bain’s, “Pioneer Drug Store,” which appeared in the “Cass County Pioneer” in 1895.”
